2008 elec Precedent only goes 4mph
I have an electric (48v) 2008 Club Car Precedent. I replaced the MCOR in May. Last week, it would only go about half-speed. I read TahoeDawg's Sticky about the speed sensor. I replaced it yesterday. Now the cart will only go a few mph. Now, when I initially press the go pedal, it "sputters" before going a few miles per hour. I checked the batteries and they registered 41 volts. What else could it be? Any help appreciated!

"I checked the batteries and they registered 41 volts"
Is that a typo? did you mean 51 volts? Cause 41 volts is extremely low. |

Sounds like it could be batteries.

Most likely, it means I forgot the voltage! The batteries were fully charged. They are two years old and it ran quite nicely prior to this.

Did you get any "sparks" on the motor studs when You were replacing the sensor?
Make sure the F1 or F2 spade connectors on the controller did not come partially disconnected when you worked on the cart. |

There no no sparks. I checked connections everywhere to see if one was loose. I didn't find any. There is quite a bit if rust on several of them so I plan on cleaning up those connections.

Where did you get the speed sensor, you may have purchased a bad one.
Did you do the tests again with the new Sensor installed? Aflyer |

Re: 2008 elec Precedent only goes 4mph
Batteries were 48.4 volts last night. I bought the cheap sensor on Amazon. It was approximately $15. Do I need to buy the $80 version? I put the old sensor back in for the same results. I tried new sensor with old magnet, old sensor with new magnet as well. There wasn't a combo that fixed the problem.
Has anyone had success with the cheap amazon sensor or do I need to buy the expensive one? |

Re: 2008 elec Precedent only goes 4mph
If You have a stock Precedent with speed code 3, meaning normally it would go 15mph, then a bad or missing speed sensor would drop it to 8mph (limp mode), not the 4mph you are reporting.
The IQ controller will also cut-off on low voltage not "sputter", the sputter is an indication of either the field or the armature current being restricted between the controller and the motor due to a poor or high resistance connection. Are any of the cables "crunchy" or do you feel any heat near the connections (motor and/or Controller) after driving it for a while? By the way 48.4v is 50% discharged and it should be charged right away. |
