Ezgo powerwise 2 charger. Comes on and turns off like it’s supposed to but only charges at 5 amps . Will never jump up. Power board or capacitor?

Most often, that is pointing to the capacitor...

Be sure to get EXACTLY the same replacement capacitor, it will vary by charger make/model/voltage.

Check the "stickies" at the top of this forum for a manual for your exact charger model.

The "power board" is a semi-smart on/off switch that has nothing to do with the charging process other than applying or disconnecting 120VAC to the transformer's primary.

The charger circuit consists of a ferroresonant transformer, a boost capacitor and a pair of diodes. The charge circuit may also contain devices such as ammeters and fuses that are not active parts of the charging process, but can fail and prevent the overall charger from working properly.

The PW-II has a two leg fuse that is visible the a window. If either leg is open, the amps will be low.

If either of the two diodes is bad, the amps will be low.

If the transformer is bad, the amps will be low.

If the capacitor is bad, the amps will be low. (already replaced.)

The ammeter may be inaccurate. Tap the face, the needle sticks or get slugging with age.

Attached are a troubleshooting guide, service/parts manual and a test for the transformer and capacitor. (They are for a Lester-II, but a PW-II is the same thing with a differ name on it)
