Default F/R switch

2008 PDS - 36v (going to 48v in the future) with lift and tires driving around a hilly neighborhood.

If I am putting the Alltrax 500 controller in it with new HD solenoid and 2g cables, do I NEED to upgrade to the HD F/R switch, or will the stock one be fine as long as it is in good condition? At what point is it necessary to upgrade?

IMHO, I'd upgrade to either a "Heavy Duty" or "Super Duty" Reversing contactors. https://www.cartsunlimited.net/rever...ontactors.html

After "burning thru" a regular F\R switch and a HD regular switch, I installed a Super Duty and never looked back.

Those EZ-GO rotary switches are the weak link in the system.

However, you may wish to wait until your current switch gives you trouble so you can save a few pennies towards buying a new one.

You typed "2008 PDS" in your post. We assume you have the directional switch on the dash. If true then upgrade is not necessary or even available that I'm aware of.
If your directional switch is a lever by your knee then the post by Dave TM is sound advice IMO.

It is the directional switch on the dash. Thanks, I guess that's why I couldn't find much info on swapping that one out.
