In the wiring Diagram for the Ezgo TXT it appears that the yellow/white stripe is the wire that you want to connect the thin red wire.

The one you have now is always ON.

I also use those Wago lever nuts, a little expensive but really handy, specially for things you are rewiring often.

Edit:

Looks like we posted at the same time, Are you saying that with 0v on that thin red wire You still get +12v on your fuse box?

so I don't have the reducer wire on the white/yellow stripe. I have it tied into the solid white. At that location I have full pack voltage, but at the white/yellow I have 0v when the key is in OFF position.

So I need to move the red wire over to the other one you're saying?

Yes, but since folks can change wires around, like forkineye said, whichever wire shows 0v when the key is OFF is the one to connect the thin red wire.

The white/yellow is the factory color for the correct wire location.

All working as it should now. Now I just need more accessories to actually use all these switches. Haha
