Followed the picture for the Solenoid.
Yellow to small +
Blue to small -

Does the small red wire go on the large + post ?

Got the main pigtail on C1
it looks like the Run / Tow has to go on C3
The speed sensor goes on C5

Will anything connect to C4?

1.
2. Goes to the solenoid's battery side large terminal.
3.
4.
5.
6.Gray cable from pedal box goes to C4. (ITS and pedal switch - won't run without them)

Got it.

One last question regarding Diode # 1.
I assume I am to put the two ring terminals on each end of the wires that come out of it.
It is solid black with no color rig on it for directional connection. Is there a way to determine which end goes to the + ?

When holding it vertical and looking at it with a magnifying glass I can just barely see:

08
C

The end with the 08 has what might be a faint mark on one part. Could this be the + end indicator?

Ouch! Unmarked diode makes it tricky. Probably be less expensive to buy a diode that is marked rather than running the risk of installing it the wrong way and possibly taking out the controller. (The XCT might tolerate it, but personally I wouldn't take the risk.)

--------------------------------

IF and only IF, you have a DMM with a diode test function and know how to check a diode, you can determine which end is which.

You want the cathode to be connected to the small terminal the yellow wire connects to.

My multi meter can test diodes but I have never done this but it looks like I can test it by connecting the DMM leads to the two wires, if I understand correctly. I set the meter to the Diode test function and placed the - probe on what appears to possibly be the faint line and the + probe on the other end and got a 508 reading. When I reversed the probes I got OL.

Provided I understand correctly, the end the negative probe was on when I got the 508 reading should connect to the negative side of the solenoid on the small studs.

If what I did above does not seen to have been done right can you tell me
what is the rating of the diode and where is a good place to buy one ?
Is this something Alltrax supplied with the kit and could replace?

And will the Controller need to be Mapped to the motor I got?
Can I hook up the FN-KS but not use it at first or will I need to enable the "N" mode if I connect it?

No, the end the negative probe was on should go to the positive side small stud. Yellow wire.

When the solenoid coil de-energizes, the collapsing magnetic field generates an electrical spike with the opposite polarity of the voltage that energized the coil. The purpose of the diode is to shunt that spike away from the controller circuitry that operates the solenoid (or in the case of series drives, away from the pedal switch contacts), so the cathode is attached to the small stud with the yellow wire on it. Normally, the diode is reverse biased and doesn't conduct, but it does when the field collapses and the blue wire becomes positive for a split second.

-------
Yes the controller will need a field map that matches the motor the controller is connected to.

-----------
No sure on the FNKS set up, I've never used one. (My XCT was one of the first ones made and doesn't have the jack it plugs into. But the new Bluetooth module connect via the CAN bus, so I'll probably get one of those after they get everything up and running)

Regarding solenoids, just want to be sure I have the wires on the correct terminals.
Can they be mounted with either side being the + ?

If not, looking at pictures from my installation instructions and a picture from Alltrax, they indicate the positives on opposite sides in their pictures. So either the solenoid can be used in either direction regrding + and - or the diodes are on the wrong terminals regarding + and - in one of the pictures

Or am I missing something?

That solenoid does not have polarized large terminals or polarized small terminals.
IT is the cables or wires connected to the terminals that determine how the diode(s) must be oriented.

The banded end of the small diode faces the yellow wire.
The banded end of the big diode faces the cable coming from the battery pack.

(FWIW: There are solenoids that are polarized, but the MZJ400 isn't one of them)
