96 ezgo txt series

I recently purchased a 96 EZGO Txt 36 volt golf cart. Purchased 6 new batteries. Charged them and it ran fine for 3 weeks. Last week after a fresh charge and riding it for a few minutes, it stopped and wouldn’t move. I checked the batteries voltage - 38. I bypassed the reed switch, nothing. I checked voltage at solenoid(which clicks), had 38 volts on battery side and same when pedal depressed on other side. Checked speed controller B+ and B- 38 volts. Checked motor with 12 volts and it turns. Replaced F/R switch with new one, nothing. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The solenoid clicks, so the problem is in the high current circuit or the throttle circuit.

Measure the voltage between the controller's B- and M- terminals.
Should read full battery pack voltage (38.2 when charged) when pedal is pushed just far enough to make solenoid click.

If it doesn't leave black test lead on the B- terminal and go searching for the missing voltage with the red test probe. There are 5 cables with 10 connections, plus 4 sets of contacts to check. See attached schematic with high current circuit highlighted.

I checked the voltage between B- and M- same as pack voltage 38.

Slowly press pedal to floor. Voltage should smoothly decrease down to near 0V.

If it doesn't, check the throttle circuit.

Thanks JohnnieB!I checked the B- to M- but voltage remained at pack voltage regardless if the pedal slowly depressed. Then I checked the ITS by barely exposing the connection on the controller. With the negative lead on B- and the positive on the white wire in plug, the reading was 0.6v when solenoid clicked and 1.6v at full depression. Can I assume from this a bad controller? Thanks again for all your help.

The ITS voltages are within the specs, so the controller is bad.

The user programmable Alltrax SR48x00 (x = 300a to 600A versions) controller is an excellent replacement.
