Default Different Voltages at Solenoid

Is it normal to have different voltages from one side of the solenoid to the other? The pack side stud is always .55v higher than the controller side when stationary. I never checked it under load. I have the HD 400amp solenoid from ScottyB with altrax xct500 controller.

Does it have the resistor installed?

It is normal for the Battery side to be higher than the controller side, but I'm not sure if 0.55V is what it ought to be. You might have to contact Alltrax to find out, unless somebody on BGW knows for sure.

What you're measuring on the controller side is the charge being maintained on the filter capacitors inside the XCT, which have a bleeder network attached that is constantly discharging them so when the controller is disconnected from the battery pack, it will be safe to touch its B+ terminal in a few minutes.

The filter capacitors on a XCT48x00-PDS are charged via J1 Pin-5 and a pre-charge resistor is not used.
However, the should be a Regen Diode between the solenoid's two large posts.
