Longer rear axle replacement
Hello all. This is my first post, so please be gentle.
I am building a go-kart with my son, and using for the "donor" an Ez-go XI 775 utility cart, from around 1995 that I got for a song, and the price of hauling it home. The motor is in good shape, so if that's all I use, I still come out ahead. But I also want to use the rear axle and its transmission/differential. Trouble is, the Ez-go frame is narrower than the go-kart frame. So my question(s): Is it possible to find longer axles to replace the ones in the Ez-go, assuming there's something out there with a wider frame to pull from? I'd get to reuse the brakes and a few other parts as well. Or should I even bother with the current axle, and just get an all new rear axle assembly that's the right width for my frame? Simpler, direct-drive, chain and sprockets? |
