Does cart roll with key off? if so BAD PARKING BRAKE
many RXV Wont Run / buzzer sounds problems are caused by bad parking brake.
cart WILL NOT operate properly if parking brake fails power on test when key is turned
"on"
trojan 12v batteries give problems. low voltage causes brake lock up problems.
would check parking brake and batteries before anything else.

OZARK KING--
2009 cart with 2009 parking brake Well documented as failure prone.
Would suspect brake is bad, if cart passes power on test (no Buzzer will try to accelerate /move when accelerator pushed) brake is bad.
i have seen many bad (Locked up) brakes.
NEVER seen bad RXV controller. bad old style 2008/9 solenoids. yes.
1 mph limp mode sounds like parking brake fail.

I have a 2008 RXV, also with a 1 mph max speed. I was told by a shop that the encoder/bearing is suspect, especially if I had a old style brake lock-up in the past. I did have a lock-up so bad that the motor overheated brutally such that water sizzled fervently on the motor case. Amazingly though, once cooled and the brake problem fixed, we have run about two years with no problem. It makes sense as the encoder bearing is so close to the brake. Before I buy a bearing encoder $100, I'd like to know if anyone knows how to determine if an encoder is defective-maybe using an ohmeter.

Thanks

D

Hi

Not easy to check anything (usefull) on RXV's with meter!

dealer should use hand held scanner to check encoder--

motor command speed vs. actual speed should tell tale.

Wait, the whole "rxv torubleshooting guide" is full of things to test with a DVM.

I rarely use DVM to troubleshoot RXV's
Mostly scan tool.

(And i only get that out after checking parking/emergency brake)

Seems to me EZgo has an issue here..... Strangely enough when I called EZGO they say they are unaware of the problem.

i have the rxv and I have the same problem. replaced solenoid, happened again. Now shop say its probably that I need a reducer because my radio and speakers are draining back battery. Not likely, batteries are two years old and other opinions say its not that.

Have you had any luck with trouble shooting?

I had a similar problem with My 2009 RXV....nothing would move ..so I put The Tow/Run switch in TOW and key in N....tried to move the cart by hand...it was locked up...checked voltage at brake plug...OK next checked brake coil...27 ohms...again OK...plugged plug back into brake socket and was about to remove the brake thinking it was frozen...my arm brushed the plug wiring and I heard "Click"....found out the plug going into the brake was not making proper contact....On the course it failed again...wiggled the plug...cart went OK

Really? we got a ton of bad Curtis and more bad Danaher's piling up in our shop. Mostly from folks tapping into the harness attempting to install a radio or digital voltmeter
