I don't know for sure, but I strongly suspect that golf carts aren't designed to go fast enough to need more than drum type mechanical brakes on the rear wheels.

Since the majority of the weight is aft of halfway between the front and rear axles, getting a front wheel brake equipped golf cart to lift the rear wheel off the ground during hard braking would be more difficult than doing wheelies during hard acceleration. Tall tires and lifting the body off the axles raises the center of gravity, so doing wheelies and nose overs would be easier.

I have my 96 TXT street legal and registered. It will do 25 mph on flat ground and a lot faster going down hill. Way to fast, pucker factor at 40 mph was high! I put DOT rated tires, 4 wheel disk brakes, and seat belts. I also put new shocks and heavy duty front springs (Make sure they are on correctly aligned)
