Help a Newbe Out. What exactly have I Got?

Well you see there was this Auction...

There planning on buying an RV and ended up coming home with a 1991 E-Z-GO "Huntin Buggy".

It has 22 11-10 inch tires and a 4 inch lift. For the power and drive train I really can't tell enough to see what is aftermarket or original. Thats where I need help. I'm cool with restoring an old Mustang or Ranchero but this is my first golf cart.

I've read and researched and looked at wire diagrams but I'm still not quite sure what is what!

We have about a mile of creek front property with bottom land and some hills and want to use the cart to cruse the property for a few hours at a time. Need plenty ot tourque and a speed of 12-15 mph is plenty fast considering the bumpy terain.

Some parts I can ID pretty well. Being as it only goes forward and the F&R switch looks like this - I think a replacement is needed: Recomendations?

The Soleniiod, Controller and other bits here I have no real idea on. Help IDing these parts and what needs to be replaced as part of an upgrade as well as recomendations are Welcome!

I have new 2 guage cables to install and want to start out going to 48 volts. If the engine is good it will stay till I can get to plumb quick or another solution. I saw a post (that I can't find now) where an extra 12 volts was added with a seperate 12v charger and the soleniod just seeing 36v. It seemed like a quick way to add 12v if the controler and soleniod I have are up to snuff. If I have to replace everything I might as well start with 48 all around.

Went for my first ride after charging and it cruises but sounds like a Rubbing noise coming from the rear. Not a whine but almost a slight "smooth metal on metal" rub sound. Any ideas where to start?

Also - Cart will go forward but no reverse at all.

I assume, until someone tells me better, that the best thing to do is pick up a new switch. Since I'm looking at upgrading the controller and soleniod I'm thinking to go with a heavy version insted of just a basic replacement. I've also looked at the Rocker Switch contactor Reverse but I'm not sure what extra this will do for me. Thoughts?

I looked at all the pics.... you did okay, it could be a lot worse.

The good news is it is a controller cart...the bad news is everything needs replacing.

Seems like everything is for 94.5 and up or '89 and earlier! What about us 90-91 guys?

You Marathon guys are straight up series cart men. There are 500-700 amp controls, big solenoids, switches and motors available for this cart. No problem.
