New body or Fix current
My dad and I are going to start working on a 99 TXT. The build is going to be pretty extensive...4" lift, wheels/tires, 48V conversion, controller, motor, rear seat, etc.
When it comes to the body, it has some damage. There are some pretty major scratches down the sides, and the drivers front quarter has a big "dent" (for lack of a better term. I know the panels are plastic, but does anyone know if they are molded in color or painted? In other words, the body we'll be working on is green...Is it painted green over white plastic, or is it green all the way through? Pics of damage. |

Re: New body or Fix current
Mike_H - the body panels are plastic and green all the way through. Your body damage is in a difficult area to repair. My guess is that you will need to replace the front portion of the body, but not sure how important cosmetics will be with your build. I would probably try fixing it and knowing that replacement is more than likely - you could get lucky!

New bodies are so nice. Another thought is those green cowls are abundant and inexpensive. Shop around your local cart shops and dealers for a replacement.

Had some time today, so we took the front cowl off. I was able to straighten it out pretty well. There is still some crazing, that I think will sand out. Little bit of filler, some paint, and viola! Save some cash for other things!

I used a heat gun, got it good and hot, then clamped it along the formed trim line.
