Default RXV batteries, 4X12 -> 6X8

I have a 2013 RXV with the OEM setup of 4, 12 volt batteries. Although they're still working fine, I want to be ready to switch to 6, 8 volt batteries when the time comes.

Cables are no problem, I have a bunch left over from my old (now scrapped) CC project. Of course, I won't buy batteries until they're needed.

What all else is needed for the conversion? Battery tray, hold-downs, ??? Approximate cost of all these components?

What kind of work is involved? Is it little more than what would be involved in just replacing the batteries with another set of 12-volt jobs, or is it much more involved than that?

Thanks in advance!!

I think the "genuine ezgo" version of the tray comes with the hold down & rods. Installation is a little tricky, but no body removal, Have a buddy stop by to help you "shoehorn" it in. Anyone (and his buddy for about 10mins) could do it in a couple of hours, even if they were total rookies. Sockets & wrenches (15mm, 9/16", and Torx).

CGT,
Thanks for the info! Any idea on the cost? Is it this rack, listed as for the TXT/Medalist? https://shop.ezgo.com/products/Six-B...tery-Rack.html It sells for $137.00.

Thanks again!

If you are looking to go lighter... I have been looking at them to replace mine. I am unsure how or if it is possible to do what you are trying to do... But the one you have referenced is similar to this one.

($150 free shipping) - http://www.ebay.com/itm/190677565040...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Make it easy on yourself.
If you have help- just take body off.

About 8 bolts to get most rear seat kits off (lift off as unit)

A few 45 torex possibly 2 "seat bumpers" --(^$@$#%&%)--
lift off rear body -clean it up while disassembled-
easy install--- 2 to 3 hrs including goof off time.

RXV 6 battery tray is part number 627889. It is just the tray.

You can do it with the body on, or off. Frankly, i've done so many "body swaps" that im rather sick of taking bodies off RXVs & Drives..... Ever swap a body on a 2five? (it sucks!).

I hate TXT body swaps.

RXV's are easy.
