Quick battery question
I purchased new battery set a couple of days ago.
It has been raining where i live and not able to finish changing out the new cables and put in the new batteries set. How long is it acceptable to leave the new battery set not hooked up and not getting a charge? I would think a few days should not be a problem...but I am a newbie to all this golf cart stuff. Re: Quick battery question
They often sit on a dealer's shelf for weeks, so a few days more shouldn't hurt.
Just be sure to fully charge them before the first use and then break them in properly. Just to be sure, check the voltage and find out what the State of Charge is on attached chart for a 6V battery. If they are 70% charged or less, break out the golf umbrella. |

If a battery is at 6.25, what would you expect the drop to be per day?
I have no reference point to any of this? Thx Skip Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk |

Re: Quick battery question
I have no data on how fast cart batteries self discharge between their forming charge at the factory and their initial charge prior to their first use, but once they have been broken in, about 1% SoC per day is the general rule of thumb.
At 6.25V, they are at 80% SoC, so in ten days they might be at 70% SoC, which is 6.19V. That indicates a voltage drop of 0.06V per ten days, which translates to 0.006V per day. |
