Dude told me the batteries were a year old and when I test drove it it barely made it back up the hill to the golf cart shop so we pushed it back in and put it on charge I came back and drive it later and it OK got it home drive it exactly 1 mile and it died so I called Dude and he said he would give them to me for 300 it was on consignment for someone else

If they have set without being charged for a year it don't matter how new they are. They're probably damaged.

August 2013 my brother-in-law put new batteries in his cart, took it to his new house and left it set for one year. Never charged it. Aug. 2014 he told me to come get out of his yard. I pushed it onto the trailer and nursed the batteries back to what appeared to be good health. They ran strong until June, 2015, then three batteries would very quickly drop to 4.5 volts only a 5 minute ride from home. Everything was clean, tight, normal charging time.

The damage from neglect finally lifted its ugly head. Dead cells.

Replaced with powertrons and it is running great.
