Re: EZGO battery question
Battery requirements change with cart usage. Heavy loads, big tires, & long hauls require greater amp hour capacity. I like to see 190 Ah in an 8v and the Rangers have more. As far as matching the charger to the battery goes, the rule of thumb is 10% of AH for the bulk charge rate. There is a little leeway in that...

Re: EZGO battery question
The Ranger 160 has 204AH while the T-890 has 190AH, so it should give you about 7.4% longer range (run-time) and lifespan.
The cart performance will be roughly the same. (The Ranger 160 pack will be 42 pounds heavier, which will impact performance.) Unless the Ranger 160 is only a few dollars more, the T-890 will probably be the best bang for the buck. |

Re: EZGO battery question

For a 190AH battery, I'd go with a bulk charge rate of more than 10A, but less than 30A, which includes most of the 48V golf cart chargers out there. Modern chargers that use dV/dT (change in Voltage over change in Time) technology to determine when to end the charge cycle are better for the battery's cradle to grave performance and lifespan than the legacy chargers (ferroresonant transformer type) that shut off when a fixed on-charge voltage is reached. Basically, as far as amps out, if the charger isn't completing its charge cycle in the hours the cart isn't being used, a charger with a higher amp output is needed. |

Re: EZGO battery question
Ok thanks so basically if I go 890 or the Rangers and my charger is a 15 amp that's ok just takes longer to charge it right?

Re: EZGO battery question
It is totally "area dependent". Battery prices vary by location. The folks nearer to the cart factories seem to have much better prices than i see. Im sure there are other "area/delivery" factors too.

Re: EZGO battery question
Trucking. The farther you are from a battery hub or distribution center the more you pay.
