Re: Power Drive charger not working 95ClubCar 48V.
i know this has been solved but just so you know the wire your buddy fixed was more than likely the 10 gage wire for the charging system if it was on pass. side rear battery, if that wire was bad theres no way your charger would come on...................................

Re: Power Drive charger not working 95ClubCar 48V.
You hit the nail on the head. Apparently this is a red braided copper wire covered in plastic, but on mine the loop for the terminal had corroded offand the wire kind of was out of sight, so I didnt know it was not in the circuit....and the repair was to replace and then recharge as my benefactor did.

Re: Power Drive charger not working 95ClubCar 48V.
Sorry to revive an ancient thread, but it is applicable to my problem. Hope someone can help.
I too have a club car 48v cart, with power drive charger that won't charge. I have jumpered the charger relay, and it will send amps, and the batteries will charge. The batteries are high enough in voltage, 44v-48v, and I see that battery voltage between the two wires coming into the charger relay at the small blade terminals, when I have the cart plugged in. When I plug the charger cable into the cart, then unplug, the cart makes a cha chunk cha chunk clicking noise a couple times. Happens every time, though I haven't tried testing when I have the charger relay jumpered as I don't think that would be safe. Needless to say I've changed the charger relay twice with no improvement. I am willing to replace the charger, but I'd hate to do that if the problem lies elsewhere. Is there anything else to test? If the on board computer in the cart is bad, would that prevent battery voltage from showing up at the charger relay? Thanks! Dylan |
