Default Installing light kits ?

When I go to put in the light kit on my G-22, is there anything I need to know for cutting the fiberglass ? Do you guys just use a jig saw, or something else ? I'm just wondering if the saw will rip the fiberglass, instead of cutting it with a nice looking edge on it ?

I use a roto-zip for initial cut...then a burr bit to clean it up if neccessary...Yamaha Authorized Dealer ;)

Roto zip here, but being a cabinet maker, I knew what to expect.

Suggest you put on Blue painter's tape then draw your pattern. The tape will prevent any scratching of outer surface.

Yep, we use masking tape, mark it out, drill a pilot hole and use a jig saw. I'm shure all you members that use a rotozip know they can be alittle "unwheelding" if not carefull. Witch lite kit did you get?, aftermarket or the Yamaha style? If Yamaha, we don't use the backside metal brackets, we just use tourque head screws at the upper and lower corners of the plastic basels. Just my .02 cents. Lets see some pictures

I did not buy a kit yet. I want to paint the cart this winter, so I will cut them in just before that... I was thinking regular yamaha kit, I'm guessing they fit better than aftermarket, but not sure on that....

I will definitely post pics when I do the project this winter..... can't wait !

If you want a great kit just for head and tail lights go with madjax factory yamaha look-alike...they are much cheaper and install in half the time...still looking exactly like yamahas kit...only draw-back is the harness is not wired for turn signals, horn, brake lights but if you just want running lights its a great bang for the buck
