Default Replacement power sheive failure

I recently up graded my 92 G-9 with a power kit. Replacement sheive, new spring and spacer from Buggies unlimited. Also installed a new speed spring at the governor. Installation went well, cart was doing 20 mph. More speed than I need so I turned the governor back about 10 turns. Doing about 18 mph. Drove it for a weekend and all was well. Next week end, while riding, main drive belt, which is less than 2 months old, breaks, delaminates, and is in pieces! after towing the cart home and on further inspection, I see that the grease seal on the replacement sheive is blown out of it seat!

I have a replacement sheive, belts and nylon washer on order.

What could have happened?

Thanks
MV

You only buy Genuine Yamaha Parts! B. U. is nothing but brand X. Don't know what to tell ya.

Mike, I don't want to tell ya ta spend money on parts you don't need. I'd start looking at the sheave to see if its Yamaha to start with. Then start reading up on maint. for G9's. Motor mounts, torque cable, clutch maint., I would call Plowmans (vender here), talk to him about your needs. I understand the BU. spring is usually junk, and always seems to have problems. I used a concierge spring in the secondary clutch on mine (Yamaha part). It seems to work very well for me.

Read this site, you will learn tons on how to build a hot rod the right way, here!
