Default Club car gas radio cuts out

I installed a radio in 2008 club car gas last season, worked great. End of season started cutting out on acceleration. Replaced battery beginning this season, still cuts out. Disconnected everything except speakers, wires direct to battery, still cuts out? Any help appreciated. Thanks

Is the charging system even working? A gas cart should have 14.5+v at the battery when running. If radio is cutting out you're losing voltage when you shouldn't be.

On a related note: Too much voltage because of a failed voltage regulator will cause most modern radios to cut out - over voltage protection. Still check the voltage (rev up a bit, in maintenance mode of course). Too low or too high (over about 15.5) will cause problems.

What type of spark plug do you have?
See if it has a resistor or not.

if you have a volt meter put it across radio battery leads and take it thru its paces, look for low or high voltage when it cuts out

I will bet money on it being too high voltage. I chase that same problem around. Turned out to be a bad ground on the voltage regulator itself. I even replace the voltage regulator and starter generator trying to figure it out. But ultimately it was the voltage regulators ground.
