Re: Marathon 48 volt conversion
Assuming your motor is in good shape it will hold up just fine.... you may be wise to check the brushes and armature for excessive wear.
I have just put a used TXT motor in a Marathon. (original motor worn beyond service) The slightly larger motor has about 25% more hp and the added voltage really make a big difference in the carts performance. |

Re: Marathon 48 volt conversion
Your potentiometer should be just fine you can test it to make sure .... You can get a lot of controller for the $ in a series cart with a potentiometer, cheaper than what you can get most sepex controllers or ITS throttle input controllers for.

Re: Marathon 48 volt conversion
F&R switch should be upgraded. Motor should hold up fine. Controllers are all over the spectrum. Most go with Alltrax for the money, I use mainly GE for the quality. One thing to remember, the Marathon had 4 buss bars on the controller. When shopping for a replacement, get one with 3 Buss Bars to save money and wire the A2 straight from the F&R to the motor rather than routing it through the controller.
