Default Rear Wheels Dragging '93/'95 Electric Club Car

My '93 36V Club Car (Mechanically Converted to '95) rear wheels seem to have some resistance / not free spinning. I jacked up the rear & both rear tires don't free flow / spin smoothly. Any ideas what might be causing this? Thanks AL.

Those are self adjusting brakes. They can get over zealous. Crank the adjuster (star wheel at bottom) back off a bit, too much and you won't have good brakes. Go a little at a time ...

Your resistance may be caused by two different things and second is most likely your problem? #1 An electric cart has motor hooked direct at all times so you either have one wheel turning through ( 4 ) differential spider gears when ONE tire is off ground or you are turning the motor? With BOTH tires off ground you still get some drag as differential gears are still turning but allowing motor to not turn. Differentail spider gears componsate for cart in turns so one tire is not going as many turns as the other.
#2 Brake drag is very common on cable controlled brakes. The cables that connect near brake pedal run through flex housings to rear brake backing plates where arm connects them internally to shoes. These cables should be lubricated at least once a year, and more often when used in damp, muddy, or salt air areas. Both ends of cables should be taken loose and cable lubricated until they run freely back and forth. Other causes for brake drag can be weak return springs on pedal and on shoes, grooved backing plates, lack of lubricant holding shoes, frozen adjusters, pedal bushing wear and lack of lubrication, etc.

Is the adjuster located behind each wheel, covered with a rubber nipple?

IN the older carts yes. remove the nipple and fit a big crescent (or 8 or 9mm) onto the square stud 1/4 turn is a noticeable adjustment on those....righty tighty / lefty loosey
