Default Soooo....this is really a thing. Just bought my first cart, Yamaha G9.

Hello all. Just bought a 1990ish Yamaha G9 and trailered it home from Maine this past weekend. Don't know much about golf carts but it seems in pretty good shape for it's vintage. Looks completely stock to me but even stock its just plain fun to drive around. Here is the short list of things i'd like to do to it right off the bat, feel free chime in and let me know your opinions.

- Yamaha power kit...I'm not what you would call a small man.
- 6" Jakes lift kit
- Rims/tires
- Maybe a light bar?? Currently has zero lights on it.

That will be about it for now. Probably take the body panels off this winter and give it a paint job. I've replaced the air filter, changed the oil and fixed a few cracked vacuum lines so far but if there is anything else you guys would recommend i give a once over let me know.

Thanks!!

Wayne

Welcome to BGW!

IMO Yamaha G9 is one of the best out there, you got a good cart!

Post up some pics.

I'll try and get some pics up in the next day or two. I was doing some digging around online and think it might actually be a G8, it has the full front bumper and the curvy from body panel. Guy I bought it from said it was a G9.....once I get the pics up I'm sure one of your esteemed cartologists can chime in.

Run the VIN number and it will tell you what it is.

Just want to make sure I order the correct lift kit, it appears that the G8 and G9 are different. I opened up the governor last night, getting to about 14mph now. What should I expect for top end speed from a bone stock cart?
