Default '96 EZ GO motor upgraded now have intermittent operation

I have a 1996 EZ GO TXT Series cart. Upgraded my stock 2hp motor to a 4hp motor. Was told no additional upgrades needed, but after a week of use, cart will stop, or not start up after use. Have clicking coming from solenoid. After waiting a bit, cart will start operating again. Brand new batteries and good output voltage. Have not checked voltages at solenoid yet. Solenoid or controller?? Embaressing having cart die out on the course.

Controller is probably going into thermal shutdown. The stock controller (275A) is marginal for the stock motor, so doubling the size (HP) of the motor would make it totally inadequate.

Upgrade to at least a 400A controller and upgrade the 6Ga high current cables (all 13 of them) to at least 4Ga.

Upgrade the F&R switch too. All the amperage to the motor goes through the F&R in a series cart. Sepex carts don't need this upgrade.

Double the motor size will increase amperage draw significantly. I'm surprised somebody (whoever sold the motor) thought the stock controller, solenoid, wires, etc were over rated for their original task by so much ???
