Motor Testing
When testing a motor, is it necessary to remove the wires from the studs on the motor? I Always have.
Any difference with brands other than Club car? Series, Sepex? Thanks! |

Re: Mlotor Testing
Yes remove them so you are not providing current back the device it is hooked to or of there is a short or issue upstream. And I only know of the series and sepex style motors.
They may be a little different in application design, but construction design will be virtually the same due to how they are made. Series Wound DC Motor: The field circuit and the armature circuit of a DC series motor are connected in series, thus the name. Separately Excited DC Motor: The field winding of a separately excited motor is energized from a source different from that of the armature winding. Small DC motors may have permanent magnet fields with armature excitation only. However, for golf cart purposes, most separately excited motors are not permanent magnet varieties. |
