Club Car DS Making Weird Sound
I have a 2003 Club Car DS IQ 48v, and a couple weeks ago I noticed a sound coming from the rear area. The best way to describe it, it sounds like locust (insect) and the volume goes in a slow high low wave pattern as you drive down the street.
Has anyone experienced this? |

Re: Club Car DS Making Weird Sound
Update: It seems like the noise is coming from the motor, but still not 100% sure? What in the motor could be making this sound, perhaps the brushes, and is there any way to open up and clean these?

Re: Club Car DS Making Weird Sound
Could be the brushes or the motor bearing going bad. On a cart that age I would think the brushes are worn out and time to be replaced.
The best way to make sure would be to raise the rear of the cart off the ground and run it at medium speed and see if you can locate the source of the noise. |

Re: Club Car DS Making Weird Sound
Thanks! I'm gonna try that this weekend. How bad of a job is it to replace brushes and/or the bearing? Is it gonna cause problems if I let it go?
