How I installed my speed magnet
First post so I want to say thank you to all of you. I have been reading alot of post and have really find this forum super helpful.
Also I wanted to give a shut out to David Hicks at Revolution Golf Carts. He was instrumental in helping me with this upgrade. He has some great parts and great prices with super quick shipping. I have an 07 club car ds and my friend has an 04 club car ds. We live in what could be considered To be the golf cart capital of the world. I wanted to upgrade the speed on our carts. So I went online and noticed that Dave sells the speed magnets. I reached out to him to get some clarity on how to tell which magnet I needed. He quickly responded with a detailed explanation on how to tell which magnet my carp took. I then ordered the correct magnet got it home and attempted to install it. Both cart are equipped with the GE motor. I saw in this thread on this forum that other people used all sorts of items to remove the magnet from the motor the biggest thing being do not remove the screws. Once I got the cart in the air the wheel off and the plastic shield removed it became very difficult to remove the magnet from the motor shaft. I tried all sorts of items from Flathead screwdrivers to paint lid tools too little hooked items and nothing was able to remove the magnet. So I decided to get creative. I fabricated a puller specifically for this item. I took a caliber compression tool for brakes and two paint can lid removers and welded them together on the caliber tool. Then I used a socket extension to lengthen the shaft for the puller. It worked flawlessly. I have attached photos so others can see. The 1st 2 photos are the tool I created the 3rd one is the tool before I welded the paint pullers to it. This job is relatively easy but it can get difficult I strongly suggest reading as much as you can on this form before attempting this task. I also strongly suggest reaching out to David at revolution golf carts because he will make sure you get the right magnet at a great price. I hope someone finds this helpful and look forward to what I can learn from this forum. |

Re: How I installed my speed magnet
That is a very good idea! I’ve never had one so difficult to come out with a screwdriver, although they usually break on me. That is neat though.

Thanks for the shoutout. I appreciate your business. If you're interested in mass producing these little magnet pullers, there may be a market for it.

Re: How I installed my speed magnet
It usually varies from about 20 miles an hour to around 25. 23 or so is not uncommon with stock tires.

Re: How I installed my speed magnet
I just installed one and went from 14 to 18. Mine was from Revolution. Happy with the results for a $25.00 investment.
