Dry batteries
so this weekend i decided to check on a few things since my new motor will be here tomorrow and i wanted to make sure everything was good.
Had to make a few new cables, found out my rear outer wheel bearing is bad and i had to put 2 gallons of distilled water in my 8 batteries Now i presume they have been like this for a while since i have lacked to maintain them How much harm is done by this? its probably been 6 months since i have checked them and i ride this thing alot. Im really hoping i didnt hurt the batteries |

Re: Dry batteries
Were the top of the plates exposed? If so, they are damaged. How much, only time will tell.

Re: Dry batteries
The result is an unrecoverable loss of some percentage or portion of the battery's capacity. Expect shorter run time

Re: Dry batteries
Were the tops of the plates dry? If the water level was even or just below the tops but they were still wet then probably not a huge deal. If the water level was far below the tops and the edges were totally dry then you might have ruined them.
Chances are you probably wont notice a difference. Either way, consider it a lesson. Check the water levels frequently. |

Re: Dry batteries
I couldnt tell how far down the water was but i know it took just over 2 gallons to fill up 8 6 volt batteries. and if my math is right thats about 11oz of water per cell . so i dont think thats much
2 of the cells in each battery had visible plate and the last cell had water over it.. so it may have been just below them but i did not pay that much attention unfortunately |
