Default Ruff and Tuff very slow take off?

My neighbor has a 2008 Ruff N Tuff 2WD electric cart, the same one that I see to be the most popular one on this forum, I've seen a few pics. He's almost as fast as my stock PDS EZGO, but it takes him a while to get up to speed, everything on the cart is stock, but from a standing start, I leave him behind by 3 car lengths.

Anyone know if this is a common problem with these, and is there any way to make it run better?

Sounds like either his speed controller is too small, restricting the amperage flow. Or his throttle ramp up rate is not set high enough.

What controller is in the cart?

I'll have to find out more about it this week. He's not big into "the computer" so I have to help him out with this.

Ok, not just the take off, it's sloooowww all together.

I think it is a 400 Amp Curtis. Anyone know about this "speed reduction" switch that's supposed to be hidden in the passenger side glove box??? I found that info in the online manual. It is suppose to limit the thing to only half speed. He's running 12 MPH with good batteries showing 49+ volts. I'm going to check on it for him tonight. R&T website says top speed is 24 MPH on this model. hmmm...

Thumbs down Re: Ruff and Tuff very slow take off?

Ok, found this tiny switch...it does exactly what it is supposed to do, I flipped it, took off down the street at an eye watering ......6 MPH! My next advise was to find a pretty little FOR SALE sign for it and get one of the big 3.

Let's see, no parts, no accessories, no response to any threads about them, looks to be built out of a scrap pile of pre-94 EZGO parts....Ruff n Tuff, more like Scruff and Fluff!
