Default club car speed control

Hello everyone,
Bought a 97 electric club car yesterday...noticed the accelerator pedal goes down almost halfway before cart responds. When I got underneath, I found a black plastic apparatus or " box " if you will attached to the pedal. There are elongated slots in the plate the pedal attaches to. Is this how you adjust the speed?
Also...when I took battery covers off, there was absouletly no water covering the plates...I added distilled water to the correct level and put on the charger...when I tried to drive it speed was very weak...I have cleaned and tightened all cables....anybody know whats goin on??? Thanks
many times over folks

Default Re: club car speed control

Once the battery plates are exposed to air irreversible damage starts, if the batteries are charged with exposed plates multiply the damage.

CC has a throttle linkage problem, sometimes the sloppy fitting linkage can be tightened up with a squeeze from a large pr of channel locks..... look it over carefully to see where the slop is.
As for batteries you will need a voltmeter and hydrometer to check what is left of your pack ~ post your findings here.
