Re: I need a battery EXPERT!
This is something I know a little about..
We use Lithium Ion and Lithium Polymer batteries for electric powered radio control (cars, boats and airplanes) Electric power is far superior to "wet" fuels in almost all applications now, thanks to the huge increase in energy density of the Lithium batteries - which are similar to lead-acid. Most have given up on NiCd/NiMH technology and moved on to Lithium only. They are not cheap, however, and lead-acid are the primary source of power to recharge the batteries used in the models (unless there is an A/C source available.) I've measured current and voltage on my stock cart, current is only 200A max. I have quite a few LiPo batteries capable of that current draw, but they will run out of juice quite quickly at that kind of load. I have a few packs that are 10s - 10 cells in series - for a total unloaded voltage of 42V. This would be a good substitute on a 36V cart. The capacity is typically 5Ah, so at 200A that would provide power for (5/200*60=) 1.5 minutes! :) That battery only weighs 1.2kg (2.6lbs) so you could pack quite a few of them into a cart in parallel to increase the duration. Problem is, they are over $500 each!! http://www.thunderpowerrc.com/html/extreme-V2.html :) ..a |
