I'm just trying to help here so don't nobody get mad.
The cart will run fine until he lets off the pedal the first time Right?
OK then it goes into limp mod correct?
Something is telling it to.
I suspect the controller is getting a signal from the senor to go into limp mod for some reason. It maybe over reving the motor when first moving it.
Has this cart been in water or anything that could cause this? The speed senor in the end of the motor dictates the speed of the cart did the other owner mess with it trying to get it faster you think?

Does the motor have the two small wires coming out of the end of the motor toward the drivers side? If so check them and if not that's the problem. They go into the controller and dictate what speed the motor runs at if it's bad then it will go into limp mode. I have herd making the wires bigger can cause this also.

Only one wire coming out of the motor sensor end.....

No way it can be the motor.....**** thing will sling gravel. Ran it for about a 1/2 mile full throttle.....wasn't even hot. Got to be the speed sensor or the controller. Tests are all ove the board with good and bad.....nothing reliable.
