2017 club car precedent gas. Electrical short? Melted battery terminal.
Hey guys. So my starter generator recently went out. Did the trouble shooting and everything pionted that way. Replaced starter gen and new belts while at it. Ran it on maintenance and all looked ok at high rpm i was getting abojt 18v. Is this normal lr should i replace the voltage regulator. After running the cart from abojt 2 miles i stopped at a buddies and he said it looked like it was smoking. When i opened it up the ground wire from the block was melted. I figured let me just get it home made a quick repair and when i tested it to see if it would start the postive wire turned cherry red and mealted the postive stud. Any thoughts?

Where did you get the new starter generator? Club Car dealer?
Very possible you got a defective unit. |

If your getting 18 volts, your voltage regulator is toast,
it should only be putting out about 15 volts max. |

I’ll blame that S/G first.
Use an ohmeter or DVM set to continuity tester. Unhook the battery, both cables. Unhook the White cable, and the ground cable from the S/G. Touch one lead of your meter to that white cables post on the S/G, touch the other meter lead to the case of the S/G on bare metal. If you have continuity from the post to the case the S/G is defective. |
