Exclamation Ezgo 2pg 1981 Ignition Tshoot N Repair Spark Control

hELLLO, Yes my 1st Gas EZGO refurb and repair. Fixed up the fuel system and replaced the broke spark plug wire. Ran like new! A few days later.. no advance on the spark anymore..ouch. Just runs a low speed only; no matter how much accel pedal you give it. When I use the spark tester getting spark but no longer increases in speed when pressing the accel pedal.

The control cable appears to function the same, not loose adjustments.

Hmmm.. can check the coil etc. but I need the diagram on the flywheel electronic ignition and parts.

My question is on this electronic ignition 1981 Marathon 244cc Robin ENGINE MODEL# EC25-2PG
ENGINE# 85-03410 GOLF CART SN 81F21 229360 it seems to have ignition parts inside the engine near the flywheel ? Not sure about this.

Does anyone know where I may find some schematic on the ignition module etc that actually controls the spark?

Visually I see the coil, voltage regulator, and possibly something called an "ignitor" with a wire that seems to disappear into the motor casing. I have not been able to find info on what or how this "ignitor" functions in the spark system. Please clarify if able.

I found the pic that shows 1977 2cycle ENGINE but that unit uses contact points. The electronic model I believe, would have no adjustment on the spark timing and I need to check what I would expect to be a reluctor / inductor sensor spark trigger system.
What should I expect in how to test this setup ?

You may email me also golfcart@onlinealot.com
Thanks for any help in advance.

I just fixed my 87 with simalar prob. Turned out to be the ign. Control module. After seeing the price for new module and coil, I decided to do the HEI ign. Conversion. Very simple and much cheeper. Around 40 bucks. Search on this site for HEI and you will find a wireing diagram and other info. Just follow the wires from the coil, one leads you to the module. Here's the part numbers I used available at an auto parts store.

Ign. Module LX-301T or 7000
Coil FD-478T or 5189

Brand is OEM "original engine management"
You will also need a new plug wire to match coil

Oh yeah, if it runs like crap, swap the red and blue wires at the module

There is no auto advance on the spark. If it is sparking then it is working so you need to look elsewhere for your problem. I suggest that you check the main jet and main nozzle I bet you have a blocked jet. Here is a picture of your carb.

The pulsar is behind the flywheel and the red and blue wires come out of the bottom of the engine to the ignitor. If you need any help with the carburetor just ask.

Kind regards
Dave

Check the condition of the spark blue/white=good, red/orange=not so good.
I agree with Dave though that is ounds like a fuel restriction.
Thanks @Dave
