Default High compression no power?

My 2002 ezgo does not have power. It will try to crank but it misses. I have a compression reading of 160 on both cylinders but it backfires through the carb and burns oil. It seems like it is stalled but no matter what it will not run.

The day before it did the same thing but pushed it and it run OK until I let off of the gas. this is 295cc robin.

Thanks,
A newbie that needs help

PS i adjusted the valve lash and change plugs (one was coved in oil).
