ez go engine swap
I have an 84 with a 244 robin was thinking of swapping with a four stroke engine . How much trouble is this to do ??? Or would you just rebuild the old two stroke engine ?? My 244 still runs but is getting weak .

Re: ez go engine swap
One thing i do know is you will need a new rearend out of a four stroke cart for reverse. The 2 stroke runs backwards for reverse.

I would do a rebuild. Swapping to a four stroke can be done but the price tag goes up in comparison to a rebuild. If a four stroke was what I wanted you might look into another cart.

Re: ez go engine swap
That was the answer I thought I would get, I can get the rear end at a great price as I have a dealer with tons af used parts close to me . The engine I have is a 16 diesel was just thinking it would be a fun cart to have . The old two stroke engine in my cart runs ok but I know it is getting weak I checked the comp. on it this spring it is 90 psi so this winter will be time to do the top end at the very least .

Re: ez go engine swap
I'm with Go Go on this one - a top end (complete new) is under $200 and will tie up the better part of an afternoon, whereas rebuilding the engine cradle from scratch to fit and align another motor, converting any and all neccesary electrical, linkage, etc, swapping the rear end, purchasing a custom clutch (or paying to have yours modified), new belt, etc would far exceed the value of the finished product, although it *would* be a fun winter project ...

Re: ez go engine swap
Great advice thanks. One more thing my old 244 robin makes alot of noise I have checked the muffler and all the gaskets sounds more like a rattle ,I have ran the engine without the drive belt on but that is not it do these engines make more noise as the wear out ?? or is there something iam missing .
