G9 won't run 100%
Just bought a g9...it has been sitting for a while. Put a motorcycle air cleaner on it and had it rejetted. It sputters and back fires for the first 10 minutes of action. Any suggestions?
Thanks guys |

Put the stock jet and filter back on to start with. Make it run that way first.

Re: G9 won't run 100%
Sounds like it is still jetted too lean. If that is the case it will run better with the choke on a little bit. If so just make the main jet a little larger, I used a torch tip cleaner to file mine out until it ran good after I hogged out my airbox. You can also read the plug to jet, there are charts all over the net with photos of plugs to show you what color you should have. You need to get it fully warm and run it full throttle and shut it off quickly to check a plug. For small aircooled engines under heavy load it is often best run a little rich; more of a tan/darker tan plug.
