G1 ramp shoes
Hello everybody, i have a 81 g1 and need to replace ramp shoes for the clutch, is it a hard job? I think i need a pully? How are the shoes held on? Thanks. Any tips would help.

It will be easier to replace them if the clutch is taken apart. You will need a puller to remove it. If I remember right you will need 6mm bolts to thread into the outer sheave. Heres a tip... you can pull two bolts out of the flywheel cover and use those. However I have replaced the shoes without removing the clutch but it wasnt easy. You will find that the studs on the new ramp shoes seem to be a little large... take a knife and widdle the studs down so they will go into the helix easier. Heres a tip... put a little bit of grease on it and tap it in slowly. Don't force it because it will break. Good luck with it.
