G9 wont run
OK have a question but unfortunately I don't have a lot of info yet. Drove my gas G9 around at the cabin all weekend and went to put in garage before leaving and it would turn over slightly but would not actually start or move. It would slightly inch forward once in a while but not more than a few inches. Due to time I made sure the lights and radio worked fine but didn't actually check battery fully. (I don't believe its a battery issue????). I also checked gas and made sure no "visible" breaks on the motor. A few times I pushed it then it started but now it will only slightly turn over. I'm looking for any information because I want to order any part it may be so when I go up north in two weeks I have all the parts to fix. I will return anything not needed.
With my little knowledge so far i'm thinking of buying: Battery, stop switch, solenoid, and ignition coil. hopefully I don't need a new starter. Any help of what\how I should test would be greatly appreciated. I do have the thread about testing stop switch and solenoid, and battery so I will do that first. Thanks! Thanks! Thanks! |

Re: G9 wont run
Check all the battery connections. Make sure everything is clean and tight. You may need new brushes for your starter generator.

Re: G9 wont run
Tim, I took my starter all apart and washed it out with a garden hose. Not the armature tho. I cleaned it up with a rag and WD 40.
But first, make double sure you have a good battery!! Clean starter connections as well!! Oh, good ta see ya back on again!! |

Re: G9 wont run
Thanks! I will clean out and add new brushes just as a precaution since its so cheap. Is there anything special I should look at in a battery? Currently has a car 24 series battery.

Re: G9 wont run
Best way is to have it load tested at auto parts store. Or put a voltmeter on the batt and hit the starter, if the meter drops (I think) into low 11 volt range, batt is questionable!!
