Default What year is this G1?

Hello all. Been driving this for a couple weeks and think it is a 1979?

Also, power washed it and wondering if people can see anything this is not OEM or modified? I know the zip strap around the air cleaner tube is not OEM, and the battery strap is missing…

What a beater, but kids and I are finding it very useful and fun to drive around.

1979/80 or 81. The serial# is located on the frame cross bar were the rear shock upper mounts are.

Drive belt looks quite worn, a new one will maximize performance.

Thanks CGTECH. That would be the wide belt? If you don't mind me asking - How can you tell? It does seem a little loose physically, but cart goes when it starts turning. I will order one.

You can tell by how it is sitting in the secondary clutch. You might not notice a difference now but if you were to lift the cart with bigger tires having a new belt is a must. A new belt measures 1 3/16. The repair manual says to replace it at 1 inch.

I get it. Cvt. Belt width is worn and not length so belt is sitting low on pulley. Ok. That is probably why it likes to run good at speed but chugs a bit going real slow. Thanks.

Small Block - I took another look and no numbers on the round tube that the shock uppers mount to. There is a "made in Japan" label there. The sticky says the serial number should be on the frame by the left rear wheel and there is too much corrosion there.

Thanks

I would take some steel wool and remove the corrosion. It may not be there. I agree with smallbock.....I have seen a few earlier G1s that had the serial # on the tube in between the shocks.

I will look again. I do see this tag on the vertical wall below the seat area. The numbers do not match the sticky serial numbering system, but it does say 79. Does anyone know what this tag is?
