G1 Solenoid wiring
Hello and thanks to who ever can help me out with my question. I've recently acquired a Yamaha G1 that won't start because of a crappy wiring mess. I've searched for hours and gone through several wiring diagrams and none seem to match my cart. I also can't seem to find the serial number anywhere. I've removed and tested the starter/generator and it is working. The solenoids seem to be oem, as they say "Yamaha Golf Cart Solenoid' but I can't see anything other than that. If anyone can tell me which Starter/generator wire goes where I would really appreciate it.

Re: G1 Solenoid wiring
Thanks for the reply. I've read both those threads but they didn't really help. Like I said none of the wiring diagrams seem to match my model, and since they're completely disconnected I can't really run those test. I need someone who can tell me how to hook up the solenoids on my specific model. Also, both solenoids do seem to click.

Re: G1 Solenoid wiring
It looks like the solenoids "power" and "control" circuits are wired, but not the "load" to the starter. Cant see the rest of the wiring on your cart from those pictures, but something has to take the power from those solenoids (1 for forward, 1 for reverse) and transmit that to the starter. Can you see the heavier gauge wire from the starter?

Re: G1 Solenoid wiring
The red cables apparently need to be connected to the relays. Yellow control wire is supposed to be F. Energize the relays and check for continuity between the high current cables.

Re: G1 Solenoid wiring
Your G1 is a 1979/80 or 81. Those solenoids are specific to those years. Serial # should be stamped on the round tube in between the upper rear shock mount's. Will start with J10-. I don't have/can't find a wiring diagram on line, but I'll get one for you Monday.

Re: G1 Solenoid wiring
Thanks for the replies! Yes I can see the wires from the starter. The F2 cable is connected to the positive terminal, but the other 3(a1,a2,f1) aren't connected. The red cable in the background is just a random cable. A wiring diagram would be great. I just need to get everything connected properly so I can see if this puppy runs
