Default Jakes Front Bumper - what am I missing

All,

See the attached pics. I went to install the Jakes front bumper on my DS today.... and something isn't adding up. See how far the bumper sticks out? It looks ridiculous. Did they send me the wrong one?

I couldn't imagine why they designed that like. Maybe that is the bracket for the full size bumper/brush guard. I choose to go with the flat bars.

I had one of those in black given to me and thought it looked ridiculous sticking out that far. So i just modified it. I don't have a pic right now but I'll try to explain it. I took the bend out of the flat part of the mounting bracket first. Then I blew through the tubular mounting holes so the brush guard would fit in "backwards. I shoved the brush guard in through the back side as far as it would go and welded it in place since now the bolt alignment holes wouldn't line up anymore. Then i just bolted the whole thing on and the fit was much better. It turned out great for about 30 minutes of my time. I'll see if I can snap a pic after work. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the tip. I'm amidst a customer service nightmare. Jake's is the manufacturer, and they say it's designed for a long travel lift.... That's why it sticks out so far. The seller (everything carts) is saying that 'it will fit, just differently on every cart " That's a garbage answer in my opinion... They're also making me pay return shipping and will refuse to accept the return if it has any scratches from my attempted mounting.

That pretty much sucks.

The instructions in the link that CTD posted do not seem indicate a different part number for a long travel lift. At least not that I see.

Bite the bullet, pay the return shipping and be done with the manufacturer and the retailer.

Check out the All sports bumper and a site sponsor like Revolution Golf Cars.

I thought Jake's was a sponsor, then this place had $15 off the Jake's bumper.

I have purchased from TahoeDawgZ71 and Revolution before. I had a great experience, but I just didn't find another bumper I liked as much

nnmsgst,
Yep, that one just doesn't seem to look right.

This is the one I got for mine, but I don't have the body mounted, so we will see how it looks when we get to that step.

I think this one is similar to the one you have currently from Jakes.

Good luck with this project,
