Re: Charging voltage at battery high
I had a similar result with a VR I purchased on Ebay. Is it an OEM VR ?

Re: Charging voltage at battery high
I suggest to put the original (OEM) VR back on and see if the problem resolves.

Re: Charging voltage at battery high
Aftermarket but voltage output at regulator seems good

Re: Charging voltage at battery high
What model is your cart? The older carts had adjustable VR's, the newer are solid state.

Re: Charging voltage at battery high
Doesn't the voltage come out of the gen? I thought the VR only looked at the voltage and turns the gen on/off.
I really need to find out about this because mine will flash the lights brighter and normal all the time at night, which is not very often for me, but I swear it did not do that before I put the clone in. And the ignitor has a wire to the VR on the diagram, but I don't know if it really goes that way in real life. Anyway if the VR has a wiring issue that causes it to not see voltage properly it will not control the gen properly. Of course I don't have the ignitor in there anymore. I have no idea why removing the stock 12v ignition system would change how it charges, another clone I put in a G9 did the same thing. They seem to work fine and battery is fine, but why the change. I doubt the ignitor and coil take much power to run, or enough to change power load. I guess technically nothing takes power on my cart now other than starting and lights as the clone has a magneto ignition like a briggs. |

Re: Charging voltage at battery high
I still suggest you put the OEM VR back on and see if it resolves(simple). If doesn't resolve you probably have a short. I would start looking closely at the wires from the VR. On mine it was the green wire about 6 inches away where the "Y" is formed in the harness.
