Equalizing charge on new T875 batteries?
I have a Club Car DS 48V with the OBC removed, and I use a Accusense DPI Charger. I am going to install new Trojan T875 batteries in a few days, and keep reading about "equalization charge" as a semi-regular maintenance.
Does the Accusense DPI charger have the ability to do an equalizing charge? If not, how does one do it, and how important is it? Thanks for your help |

Re: Equalizing charge on new T875 batteries?
DPI Gen 3 doesn't have a equalizing charge cycle. DPI Gen 4 does have the equalization charge.

How can I tell the diff between gen3 and gen4? I bought the charger about 5 months ago, but don't know which gen.

Re: Equalizing charge on new T875 batteries?
This is the Gen 4 with equalization.
The equalization charge is used to keep your battery pack in balance. ie all batteries should read within a tenth of a volt of each other. |

This is the DPI Gen 3 w/o equalization.
BTW I use both. The Gen 3 for the colder months and the GEN4 for the warmer months. |

I have the Gen 3 charger and usually just leave it plugged in. Should I unplug the output cable and plug it back in to do an equalization charge periodically? |

Re: Equalizing charge on new T875 batteries?
Tom47 No The DPI Gen 3 doesn't do a equalization charge. I was referring to the CC PD3 when I said unplug the output cable and plug it back in to do an equalization charge periodically.

My batteries were installed today. I am giving them a full charge, meaning I planned to leave it on all night. After 3 hours on the charger, the needle is down to 3 amps. I know it is safe to leave it on all night, but is it necessary? Jim |
