Default Steering Shaft Size ??

Does anyone know the size and thread of the nut on the sterring shaft on a G9?
I removed my steering wheel by hitting the nut with a hammer...not advised!!
In the end I messed up the thread really bad
Any help is appreciated.

I am not close to my G9 so I cant tell you. Measure the TPI and see if you can find a thread file that size. Or use a smooth file and file down the damaged threads until you can start a nut, you can usually do without 1/8 inch or more of the thread. Or file down the damaged area to the same size as the good threads and use the thread file to clean up the damaged threads. Be patient and you can get a good repair. Next time leave the nut on but loose and have someone pull up on the wheel while you hit the nut with a hammer Stope before too much damage has been done. If the threads are slightly damaged they can be partially repaired with a file then when the nut is removed it will help repair the threads. A brass or aluminum drift also helps.

I believe it's a 12mmX1.25 thread. Same as your lug nut.

Hey Brian,

I misread your post. I thought you had boogered the shaft threads and not just the nut. I could have sent you one easily. We have a Kubota tractor place here that carries metric hardware in bulk and it is very inexpensive. Sorry bout that.

Yep, should be the same as the lug nut threads.
