Default Precedent light kit issues

Hey guys, trying to finish up installing the deluxe upgrade kit on a 2008.5 Precedent. Headlight and horn are working properly, and turn signal/hazards appear to be ok as well.

Issue is the brake lights that turn on immediately once the key is turned on, at full brightness. If I disconnect the 48v relay, then the same thing happens, only at reduced brightness. When light switch is turned on, headlights kick on as expected, and taillights remain at full brightness, with no change at all with brake press, but does behave properly with turn signal flashing.

Under no circumstances is the brake switch working despite having wired it per instructions. Using the plunger type attached to brake rod if that matters at all.

Any guidance as to what to troubleshoot/test first? Don't believe it's a factor, but just finished stretching the cart to a 6 seater a month or two ago, and switched out to lithium battery pack that I still need to clean up the wiring and reducer/controller placement. Thanks in advance for any help at all!

FWIW, I just tested the brake switch wires and found that both the red and the orange/tan have 12v coming in. My understanding is that the 12v should only be going through the orange/tan if it's receiving it from red wire through the brake switch?

If that's correct, then any first guesses as to where the orange may be drawing the 12v from, without me tearing deeper into the cart?

Also is there any way to tag Sergio or Tahoe to see the thread?

Oh man, sorry to hear that, seemed to be one of the biggest assets to the board. Appreciate the heads up though, I'll give David a call as suggested.
