96 TXT Slipping Clutch or belt??
Hi all,
I have a 96 TXT with the 295cc engine.. Over the past week or so I have noticed that when I take off from a stop the cart will start to go but then the motor revs up a lot higher then it used to before I feel it kick all the power to the drive train... Sometimes the motor will rev up until the rev limiter kicks in before it starts to really pull .... It will always take off from a dead stop but feels like its slipping until the RPMS really get up there for a few secs... Any Ideas ? Does it sound like the drive clutch, driven clutch, or belt?? Thanks, Ryan |

Re: 96 TXT Slipping Clutch or belt??
Check to see how deep the belt is sitting in the driven clutch should be no more than 1/4". Jack up the back of the cart start it and see how smooth the cvt is operating . Hold the brake and rev it to make sure the belt isnt immediatly pulling into the second sheave.Pull the belt off and push the outer sheave of the drive clutch in and out it should move freely with steady spring tension pushing it back out. Check the outer edges of the belt for a shiny surface " glazing " if this exsist scuff it with a little 120 sand paper. Do everything in that order and post what you find. Hope it helps
