Default G1 start up issue

Starting my G1 for the first time on a cold motor, I have to let it run for about 5 minutes before the thing will take off. I push the accelerator down and it just sound flat like it wants to flood out.

After the warm it up it runs just fine...is this normal or do I need to fix something?

You need to fix something. Start with the basic carb settings, then determine if it will start off with the choke pulled out, it sounds as if it is not getting enough gas. A cold motor needs a richer mixture at first but your motor should be able to operate normally within a minute of starting.

Much fiddling and it appears there something wrong with the choke linkage. Pull the choke out and hold it and the cart will start and run and move.

Just pull the choke out and let go and it moves in just slightly the cart will start and run and won't move untill it warms up.

I'll have a look at it this weekend.

I think the consensus here is that if you have to hold the choke out you probably need to replace the crankshaft seals.

The choke should move back in slightly when you let go of the knob, if you hold it out it's on full choke and as it slides back in it's partial choke.

It should warm up in a minute or so and need no choke at all after that.

I am about at the point in this project where I sell the G1 and get a Mule or Ranger.
