Crankcase seal replacement fan side G1
Hey guys,
I have been forced to replace the seals on my G1 as it has died again. All going ok so far, but i have reached a problem. The 2 srews ( philips head ) that hold the coil disk inside the magnet hub I just removed are as tight as s..t. I have actually shredded the top one trying to get them off. No amount of WD40 will help loosen these little buggers. Any idea on how to get them out ? and how long are they ? Are they replaceable ? Thanks. |

Re: Crankcase seal replacement fan side G1
I used an impact driver. It's a tool that acts like a screwdriver but you actually hit it with a hammer and the force is applied to break the screw loose. It shouldn't be rusted in there, the case is aluminum. It will likely have some kind of thread locker. An impact is the only way to go.
It looks like this. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=...9QEwAw&dur=461 |

Re: Crankcase seal replacement fan side G1
I have now completed the fan side crankcase seal, and thought I would assemble together to see if she would start, .......... no go !
I have to wait for a puller to come in stock over a week or so, so I was hoping it would at least start. Im thinking that both seals need to be replaced for success ?? Still no fuel getting pumped to the carbie. |

Re: Crankcase seal replacement fan side G1
Thanks all, great forum, now Ive picked up some experience , I hope to help others out.
My G1 has now had its crankcase seals replaced, and is going great. The governor has had a little mod, and for a bald guy, I feel the wind in my hair ! Had a little bit of trouble tightening the clutch, and it actually blew off at first reverse throttle, but found the tip on rope down the piston chamber to fill the space and tighten the clutch.......thanks all good so far..........anyway got to go for a round now, that will be the test. My G1 has never run so good. |
