Default TXT hesitates occasional on acceleration

Model Year: 2006 Make/Model: Electric TXT Golf Car (PDS)
Curtis PMC Controller
Batteries new - 10/26/2010 Present reading fully charged = 38.46V

Recently started occasional hesitation when depressing accelerator pedal.
Have been fooling with this for a few weeks now, it has been very intermittent, started out 2/3 times a week. Now it has progressed to a couple times per day.

Checked all connections, all good and tight.
Checked all voltages, everything good.
J1 1 through 9 Good
J3 1 through 4 Good
J4 1 & 2 Good

Noticed today, after feeling the controller cover (after it hesitated) felt very warm. Removing the cover touched the solenoid, it was very hot...... Not to burn my finger but hot enough to remove my finger very fast..........

Is this a normal temperature? How warm or cool should it be?

The tiny stock contactor is prone to heat related failures. If it is getting too hot, or if the large contacts are brown or straw colored, instead of brilliant copper color, time for a new one.

I did replace the solenoid, resister and put a new connector on the red wire (the end of the wire was burned).
Seems to work good now. Will know more after a few days of use.
